WASHINGTON – American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) President and CEO David Chavern made the following comments on the Living Donor Protection Act that will be considered by the Senate HELP Committee on Thursday:

“Life insurers want to help as many people as possible get the financial protection they need. That’s why ACLI strongly supports the Living Donor Protection Act. This commonsense bill ensures the selfless act of organ donation does not limit someone’s access to life, disability income, or long-term care coverage, while upholding fair underwriting standards.

“Our hope is that the bill helps more people choose to save a life through organ donation. We urge members of the Senate HELP Committee to support this important measure.”
