WASHINGTON – Former Ohio insurance director and respected industry leader Jillian Froment will join the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) as Executive Vice President and General Counsel starting September 19.

“We are thrilled that Jillian will be bringing her leadership to our organization,” said ACLI President and CEO Susan Neely. “In the midst of the nation’s economic uncertainty, the financial security and peace of mind our industry provides consumers is more important than ever. Jillian’s industry knowledge and experience with state, federal and international policymakers will be invaluable as we advance policies that expand access to financial protection and security and address essential societal needs.”

“ACLI has a record of meaningful engagement in public policy debates,” said Froment. “This position is an opportunity to leverage the industry’s strength in providing family financial security and expand its reach. I look forward to leading policy initiatives for the industry that reflect the vital role of this market for households and communities across the country.”

Froment comes to ACLI after a distinguished career at the Ohio Department of Insurance where she led an agency that oversees the sixth largest insurance market in the United States. During her tenure, she worked with other state insurance regulators at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) on model insurance laws and regulations that safeguard consumer interests. At the NAIC, Froment served on the Executive Committee and was Chair of the Life Insurance and Annuities Committee among other leadership roles.

From 2019 to 2020, Froment was a member of the Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance that advised the Federal Insurance Office (FIO) on policies addressing the protection gap, pandemic preparedness and other issues. At the same time, she served on the Steering Committee of the EU-US Insurance Dialogue Project where she collaborated on insurance and consumer matters with counterparts from FIO, the European Commission and the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority.

Since leaving the Ohio Department of Insurance, Froment has worked as an insurance regulatory advisor, providing industry leaders with insights and counsel on emerging issues in insurance and industry innovation.

Froment earned a Juris Doctorate from Capital University and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from The Ohio State University.
