WASHINGTON – The American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) is pleased to announce that Marti Thomas has joined its Federal Relations team as Vice President, Taxation, Trade and International starting today. She will report to ACLI Senior Vice President, Federal Relations Kimberly Ross.

“Marti’s extensive public and private sector experience will be a significant asset to the Federal Relations team at ACLI,” said Ross. “She will play a key role in working with Members of Congress in support of policies that expand access to financial protection and retirement security beyond the existing small businesses, workers and 90 million families our members serve.” 

Prior to joining ACLI, Thomas was a principal at Williams and Jensen LLC where she advised clients on financial services, tax, healthcare, education, manufacturing and technology issues. Her private-sector experience also includes working for Gephardt Government Affairs, the Duberstein Group, the Bank of New York Mellon and Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.

Thomas also was as an advisor to former U.S. House Democratic Leader Dick Gephardt (D-MO) and served as a Deputy Assistant Secretary and Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. 

Thomas has a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wesleyan University.
