Washington, D.C. — Paul M. Kangas has joined the Federal Relations Department of the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) as vice president. Kangas will focus on financial services issues and report to ACLI Senior Vice President, Federal Relations, Alane Dent.

“Paul’s experience will be a strong asset to ACLI as we work with members of Congress in support of public policies that ensure financial and retirement security solutions are available to all Americans.” said Dent. “We are fortunate to have him on our team.”

Kangas has more than twenty years of experience in government relations. Before joining ACLI, he worked for Assurant, Inc. where he was primarily responsible for financial services regulatory reform, data privacy, flood insurance, and tax policy. He also has worked at the Property Casualty Insurers Association, the U.S. House Financial Services Committee and the Transatlantic Policy Network.

Kangas received a Bachelor of Arts in government from Cornell University.
