Washington, D.C. (February 23, 2016) — American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) President and CEO Dirk Kempthorne announced the appointment of Katherine Trinidad as senior vice president, communications and public affairs. 

“Katherine is a proven leader who brings extensive corporate, government and journalism experience to this position,” said Gov. Kempthorne. “Her deep expertise in strategic communications will be an asset to ACLI as we inform policy-makers, the media and the general public about how life insurers provide financial and retirement security for 75 million American families.”

Trinidad has more than 20 years of experience as a communications professional and journalist. She joins ACLI from Lockheed Martin, where she most recently worked as the director of worldwide media relations. Trinidad also spent six years at NASA, serving as the agency’s news chief and spearheading outreach for the Space Shuttle and International Space Station programs.

In addition, Trinidad held reporting and producing positions at CNN, Reuters, WJZ-TV in Baltimore and WMAQ-AM in Chicago. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
