Washington, D.C., (October 5, 2015) — The American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) commends the White House, Ambassador Michael Froman and his team at the United States Trade Representative office for their leadership and hard work to conclude the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations.

“Trade agreements support American businesses and workers,” said ACLI Chief Operating Officer Larry Burton. “A strong global marketplace is critical to the health of our industry and to economic development. The TPP could help expand U.S. economic ties with many nations. We look forward to reviewing the final TPP text.”

International trade currently supports more than one in five American jobs. Expanding U.S. economic ties with nations around the world is essential to selling more American products and services in the global marketplace. TPP could help the overall insurance industry surpass its goal of contributing $200 billion dollars to U.S. exports by the end of the decade.
