News Release

WASHINGTON – The American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) has received the 2020 Summit Award from ASAE for its efforts to pass the SECURE Act and help more Americans save for retirement.

ASAE is a membership organization of more than 50,000 association executives and industry partners representing 2,000 organizations. The 2020 Summit Award is the group’s highest honor under the Power of A campaign, which recognizes the association community’s valuable contributions to society at the local, national and global levels.

“We are thrilled that ASAE and our trade association peers honored our efforts to pass the SECURE Act,” said ACLI President and CEO Susan Neely. “But the real reward comes from knowing that our work will help more people prepare for a financially secure retirement.”

The SECURE Act expands access to retirement plans for millions of Americans and allows older workers to contribute more to their IRAs. It also makes it easier for small businesses to band together to provide retirement plans for employees. And it will make sure that families of fallen soldiers no longer face unfair taxation of their survivor benefits.

“The SECURE Act laid the groundwork for modernizing the way people save for their future. We look forward to working with policymakers on additional bipartisan solutions to help all Americans retire with comfort and dignity.”

ASAE will formally recognize ACLI and other award winners during the Virtual Power of A-Summit Awards event on September 30.
