News Release

WASHINGTON – The American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) said today that this year’s ACLI Capital Challenge road race has been cancelled due to public health concerns caused by the COVID-19 outbreak.

ACLI President & CEO Susan Neely said: “We regret having to cancel the ACLI Capital Challenge. But we must put the safety of the race participants and volunteers first.

“Despite the cancellation, we are proud to make a financial donation to support the race’s charitable recipient, Junior Achievement, and its financial education program for students across the nation. Now more than ever, financial literacy is critical for students. We need to empower the next generation of Americans, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, or economic status, to make smart decisions for their financial security.”

ACLI is working with race director Jeff Darman on plans for next year’s race, which is tentatively scheduled for May 19, 2021. Updates will be provided as new information becomes available at www.CapitalChallenge.com and ACLINews.
