Washington, D.C. (September 22, 2015) American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) President and CEO Dirk Kempthorne is pleased to announce staff promotions that will bolster ACLI’s advocacy efforts on behalf of the life insurance industry and its policyholders. 

“These are well-deserved promotions. They enhance ACLI’s excellent and talented staff in support of the life insurance industry and 75 million American families that rely on our products for peace of mind, long-term savings and a guarantee of lifetime income in retirement,” said Governor Kempthorne. “These changes will help ACLI further its mission to educate policy-makers on the critical role our industry plays in Americans’ everyday lives.”

In Federal Relations, Senior Vice President Maurice Perkins has been promoted to lead ACLI’s outreach efforts with Congress and the executive branch. Mr. Perkins began working at ACLI in 2005, focusing on financial services issues. Most recently, he was the interim head of ACLI Federal Relations.  

ACLI also promoted Alane Dent, who joined ACLI in 2004, to Vice President & Deputy, Federal Relations. Previously, Ms. Dent served as Vice President, Federal Relations, Taxes & Retirement Security and coordinated Capitol Hill advocacy efforts on issues affecting annuities, IRAs, 401(k)s and other retirement security products. In her new role, she will work with Mr. Perkins in leading ACLI’s Federal Relations team.

Pete Bautz is ACLI’s new Senior Vice President, Taxes & Retirement Security. Mr. Bautz joined ACLI in 2010 as Vice President, Taxes & Retirement Security. Most recently, he was the interim head of ACLI Taxes & Retirement Security. In his new capacity, Mr. Bautz will oversee initiatives to educate U.S. regulators about the life insurance industry’s tax structure and how it benefits policyholders seeking financial and retirement security.  

ACLI also enhanced its member relations efforts with the promotion of Nancy Moon to Vice President, Member Relations. Ms. Moon has been with ACLI since 2004. In her elevated role, she will help ensure ACLI member companies continue to value their association with ACLI. 

In ACLI’s Research Department, Jiangmei Wang has been promoted to Director, Research. Ms. Wang has been with ACLI’s research team since 2000. And Kyle Ritter, who joined ACLI in 2013, has been promoted to Policy Analyst, adding to his current responsibilities as Information Resource Specialist. As part of an experienced team, Ms. Wang and Mr. Ritter will conduct research in support of ACLI’s advocacy efforts on key legislative and regulatory matters.
