News Release

American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) President and CEO Dirk Kempthorne issued the following statement today in response to Hurricane Harvey:

Washington, D.C. (August 29, 2017) — “The life insurance industry mourns the devastation, suffering and loss of life resulting from Hurricane Harvey. We extend our deepest sympathies to families and loved ones affected by the hurricane.

“America’s life insurance companies are keenly aware of the vital role their products can play in rebuilding lives. As they have in the past, life insurers will deliver on the promise of financial security they have made to policyholders.

“On behalf of ACLI, I will be reaching out to the governors in Texas and Louisiana, as well as to the insurance commissioners in these states, to offer our help in addressing any life insurance related issue that may arise as a result of this disaster. The full resources of ACLI will be available to assist.

“We also will be displaying on our website information that may be of assistance to policyholders affected by the disaster.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all affected by the hurricane.”
