Advocacy

ACLI promotes sound public policy on issues important to the life insurance industry. Issues dominating ACLI’s advocacy agenda include financial services reform, retirement security, taxes, and trade.

We represent more than 300 legal reserve life insurers and fraternal benefit societies operating in the U.S. ACLI members represent more than 90% of the assets and premiums of the U.S. life insurance and annuity industry. Our members also offer pensions, 401(k) and other retirement plans, long-term care and disability income insurance, and reinsurance.

ACLI advocates the shared interests of our member companies and their policyholders before state, federal and international legislators and regulators. Public policy positions are developed through ACLI’s comprehensive, member-based committee system.
