ACLI Elects 2009 Board Of Directors At Annual Conference

AEGON USA President & CEO Patrick S. Baird to Chair ACLI

Washington, D.C. (Oct. 20, 2008) – The American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI), whose member companies provide financial and retirement security to millions of consumers, elected its 2009 chairman and Board of Directors today at its 2008 Annual Conference, Strength in Times of Change.

Elected as chairman was Patrick S. Baird, President & CEO, AEGON USA. Mr. Baird will serve as chairman for one year.

“Pat’s knowledge and experience as an industry leader will be a great asset to our Board,” said ACLI President & CEO Frank Keating. “These qualities and his strong understanding of the intricate issues affecting Americans’ retirement and financial security will be invaluable to ACLI and our member companies in the year ahead.”

ACLI also elected C. Robert Henrikson, Chairman, President & CEO, MetLife, to its chairman-elect position. He will assume the chairmanship in October 2009. ACLI’s chairman-elect designate post was awarded to Michael D. Fraizer, Chairman, President & CEO, Genworth Financial. He will take over as ACLI chairman in October 2010. Dennis R. Glass, President & CEO, Lincoln Financial Group, will serve as ACLI Immediate Past Chairman in the coming year.

The chairman and Board of Directors set policy and guide the actions of the association, which represents the life insurance industry in Washington, D.C., and the states.
