Life Insurers To Meet In Boston This Fall For ACLI Annual Conference

FINRA CEO Mary Shapiro, SEC Chairman Christopher Cox (Invited) Among Speakers To Address Conference

Washington, D.C. (July 22, 2008) — Senior executives from leading life insurance companies will gather in Boston, MA this fall for the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) Annual Conference, which takes place October 19-21, 2008 at The Westin Boston Waterfront.

This is the premier conference for U.S. life insurers, attracting more than 500 attendees annually to discuss the industry’s key role in protecting Americans’ financial and retirement security.

ACLI Chairman Dennis Glass, President and CEO, Lincoln Financial Group, and ACLI President and CEO Frank Keating will explore top legislative and regulatory issues facing the industry. During the conference, Mr. Glass will pass the ACLI chairmanship to Patrick Baird, President and CEO, AEGON USA Inc. Mr. Baird will serve as Chairman until the 2009 ACLI Annual Conference.

Featured speakers will include:

  • Financial Industry Regulatory Authority CEO, Mary Shapiro;
  • Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Christopher Cox (invited);
  • Chief Economist Emeritus of the New York Stock Exchange Dr. William Freund; 
  • New York Daily News and MSNBC political and social commentator Mike Barnicle;
  • Best-selling author and presidential historian Michael Beschloss; and
  • Author and expert on teamwork, leadership and competition Oren Harari, Ph. D.

Additional sessions will explore hot topics such as retirement security, insurance regulation, stranger-originated life insurance and reinsurance.
